A Love Rooted in Tradition, Styled in Rust: Candida & Rayan’s Elegant Mangalore Wedding
— by Appennings
Some weddings begin with a flurry of planning. Others begin with a long-distance call, a vision across time zones, and two people in love trying to bring their cultures together in a place that feels like home.
Some weddings aren’t just celebrations—they’re homecomings.
When Candida and Rayan, a beautiful couple based in Canada, decided to return to their hometown of Mangalore to tie the knot, they weren’t just planning a wedding. They were reconnecting with their roots, their families, and the cultural grace of a traditional Roman Catholic ceremony all while infusing it with the warmth of their modern sensibilities.
From the very first call planned entirely with Candida and her sister from Mysore over the course of a year—we knew this wedding was going to be something deeply meaningful.
And we couldn’t wait to bring it to life
A Church Wedding Wrapped in Love and Rust Tones
Set at the majestic Urwa Church and followed by a reception in the adjoining hall, the wedding was every bit a reflection of Roman Christian elegance. The ceremony was traditional, sacred, and deeply emotional complete with the symbolic exchange of vows, the blessing of the rings, and the timeless walk down the aisle.
The challenge? Everything in the reception hall needed to reflect a very specific and rare color theme Rust.
From florals to fabrics, chair bows to table runners, we searched across Bangalore and beyond for just the right tones. And when we couldn’t find them locally, we imported custom materials to get it just right. Every single detail was curated with precision—because for Candida, it wasn’t just a theme. It was her vision.
Every Detail, Every Dream—Handled with Heart
Even with a full year of planning, some surprises can’t be predicted. Just 6 hours before the wedding, we received the reception hall access—leaving us with a tiny window to turn an empty space into a rust-themed dream.
But at Appennings, we believe magic can happen under pressure—and that’s exactly what we did.
And when Candida walked into the hall, her reaction said it all.
When Cultures, Emotions, and Family Come Together
Candida and Rayan’s wedding was a perfect example of cultural blending done right. The rituals honored their Roman Catholic roots, while the aesthetics and flow brought in a sense of contemporary style and Canadian influence.
One of the most emotional highlights was their couple entry a grand yet graceful moment that had the entire room cheering. The dhol, the lighting, the way they looked at each other it was pure magic.
And the families? Their reactions were everything.
“Beautiful, heartfelt, and exactly what we dreamed of,” they told us.
The love, appreciation, and tears of joy made every challenge worthwhile.
